Well it's Monday night. I've been here a week and thing are on a bit of a different ride than I expected. Did you know that if a base goes on lockdown, no one can get in even if they are supposed to play?
So here's the breakdown SUNDAY Flew into LA after friends dumped me @ O'Hare at 6 am. By night time I was on the strip wandering around. We stopped at a hooka place. People actually come in to smoke cherry paste. I didn't want to spend 8 bucks to smoke cherries, so the guy gave me a box of the stuff they smoke. I haven't smoked it yet because I have nothing to smoke it out of. Then we went to the Viper Room and heard COUNTERMINE, a band out of england and they ROCK! check them out on the web if you can find them.
MONDAY We did nothing and I got to know the guys from FAT RHABIT.
TUESDAY We played Deer Park Nudist Resort. If you can find where to look, you may see me in all my glory (but we'll leave that to a treasure hunt). It was a great time, in fact we were asked back for a show on Saturday. The greatest, most open minded people you'll ever meet. Yeah there were a few breasts a flyin' and there was a rooster which you can see in the pictures from the show, but this tour is about meeting people who will listen to the musicf, pay attention to the lyrics and actually care about what you have to say. And these are people who care. This is the night where I fell off a 2 foot ledge walking back from the naked pool and sliced open my leg.
WEDNESDAY Angel's Road House was the show we played. We had a tour bus for this show. And although the crowd was small, they were very receptive and now we have two shows with them in May.
THURSDAY We, FAT RHABIT and myself, decided that Joe, our J&J Entertainment agent, was too stressed with everything and we decided to take on some of the burden ourselves. We began working on booking routing dates using the contacts we have and have J&J Entertainment focusing on sponorships and military bases. FRIDAY Spectators Sports Bar; we walked in, balked at teh size of the venue (smaller than the Scoreboard in GR) and then proceeded to play one hell of a show and sell oodles of merch.
SATURDAY We were back at Deer Park Nudist Resort.....but it was cold. So we played inside and cranked the heat. Afterwards we brought some new friends back to teh hotel and in true rockstar fashion, we were told they had to leave because we were too loud. All the while understanding that in the business we are in, we need to protect our sponsors. Ian, the drummer from FAT RHABIT, and I, stayed up late after we had to kick everybody else out of the hotel, and I got to know him really well. It's a great feeling to see how of the 12 people here, we somehow find time to spend one on one with each other and get to know eachother on a personal level.
Let me say, I believe in FAT RHABIT. Not only do they have something to say, they say it and play it like musicians should.
SUNDAY Rest. A well deserved day of rest. Everybody played basketball for about an hour to forget about the work. Then we went back tgo the hotel and partied in the pool till about 2am. This in not an easy job, and stress is the number 1 killer. We all need to relax once in awhile.
MONDAY Back to work. We began calling venues from Tempe, AZ to Las Vegas, NV, working on booking routing dates for our show out at Luke Air Force Base.
And that's about all I can tell you......That's about all I remember because of my friends Jack and Jose.
Thanks for reading. I'll doo it again when I have time.
From L.A., Rock n' Roll!!
